Concurrent session: Ngā Paerewa Health & Disability Services Standard

Tuesday, 1 March 3.15pm

On 28 February 2022 the updated Ngā Paerewa Health and Disability Services Standard NZS 8134:2021 will come into effect. It will replace the Health and Disability Services Standards NZS 8134:2008 that ARC facilities are currently audited against. The NZACA has many concerns about the new Standard, including the cost of implementation and the ability to meaningfully meet standards within current constraints.
PwC have been supporting NZACA to look at the potential impact of the new Standard, and Tāmati Shepherd-Wipiiti from PwC will share these findings with you, and what they mean for the development of equitable and responsive services.
Riana Manuel was the Acting Chair on the P8134 Health and Disability Services Standards Development Committee throughout the review process. She will share her perspectives on the Standard and offer her thoughts on how these might be implemented to satisfy Ministry of Health audit requirements.
