The Green Party

Ricardo grew up in Tijuana, less than 200m from the border separating Mexico from the United States. He's a first generation migrant and has lived Aotearoa since 2006.

He has worked in hospitality and as a cinema projectionist. Before becoming a Member of Parliament he was the Coordinator of Auckland Action Against Poverty, where he organised with people receiving income support to campaign for welfare reform, migrant rights, and progressive taxation. Since 2020, Ricardo is an MP for the Green Party, and is working to end poverty and inequality across all aspects of life, including for our senior citizens.

Ricardo is the Green Party spokesperson for Senior Citizens, Social Development, Immigration, Transport, Commerce, Food Safety, Sports, and Tourism.
