Registered Nurses in ARC work in partnership as an essential part of the health system to deliver optimal health outcomes for older New Zealanders. Providing strong, professional nursing leadership – and ensuring that Registered Nurses in aged residential care are supported to work to their full potential – is one of the most important things we can do to improve health and wellbeing of our aging population.
The NZACA Nursing Leadership Group has played a leading role in setting policy for the COVID-19 response. From the outset in adopting 14-day isolation for new admissions or re-admissions through to the development of a National Outbreak Management Policy, the NLG have worked with the Ministry of Health to ensure that policies reflect the day-to-day realities of the aged residential care sector. NLG are working to ensure the health sector know who we are, what we do and why older New Zealanders deserve RNs looking after them and leading their care.
